COVID UPDATE, 2nd November 2020

Following the government announcement in England on Saturday (31st October), British Para-Swimming has had to make changes to the Lebara’s Race The World virtual event.

The decision has been made to extend the period of time in which you must film your swims and record a race time. This will give all athletes across the world the best opportunity to enter and raise the profile of this competition. The window in which you must swim your race is now between 3rd November and 13th November. The entry window has also been extended until 6pm on Monday 9th November. Race videos can be uploaded from 3rd November and must be uploaded before 6pm GMT on 14th November using the link included in your entry confirmation email.

Please ensure you upload your recorded swim before 6pm GMT on Saturday 14th November to be entered in Lebara’s Race The World.

Due to the interest in this event, we are looking at running a series of virtual races, with the second likely in the first quarter of 2021. If you have already entered and you are unable to record your swim due to lockdown coming into place in England from 5th November, your entry will be rolled over to the next series. If you would like a refund, please request this.

Hosted by British Para-Swimming, Lebara's Race The World will provide open international competition for athletes from across the world in a virtual format across the heats (3rd-13th November) and finals (2nd-9th December) for the top eight athletes in each event.

In a year that has seen competitive fixtures absent from the calendar, athletes are able to enter a multi-classification programme in the Lebara's Race The World competition. The event will include both the 50m and 100m distances across freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly disciplines, with results to be ranked using the Race The World points system, similar in nature to the World Para Swimming system but catering for all classifications in short-course configuration.

Following race analysis and officiating checks, the top eight participants in each event will be invited to progress onwards to the finals, which will be post-produced and premiered as a live streaming event at 16.00GMT on 16th December to reveal the inaugural champions.

Further information on the event, including how to enter and best practice for filming and submitting your race footage can be found below.
