Kate Shortman has completed day one of the FINA World Synchronised Swimming Junior Championships in Budapest with two top 10 finishes.
Bristol-based Shortman finished ninth in the women solo free event, with a score of 83.8333, her highest international score of the year. She then followed it up with another ninth place in the women solo technical – earning 83.1096 – across a huge field of 31 competitors.
Russian Varvara Subbotina took the gold in both disciplines.
Day 2 of the competition sees Shortman joined by Izzy Thorpe in the Duet Technical and free events.
