Continuing her action packed schedule at the LEN European Aquatics Championships in London, Great Britain’s Olivia Federici finished tenth in the Solo Technical Final equalling her result in the Solo Free event.
Her routine, performed to the ‘Housing of the Rising Sun’ was fun and energetic, and got a great reaction for the home crowd.
Federici finished with a final score of 79.2639 which saw more than a three point improvement on her title winning score at the 2016 National Championships.
She said, “It’s been a busy week for me here in London, I’m competing in every event where Great Britain is represented and it can be hard to try and balance everything but I think I’m demonstrating my strength well.”
“For me personally it was another really good experience but I really hope I can improve upon that in the future,” added Federici.
The Gold medal and 2016 European title went to Russia’s Svetlana Romanshina, a score of 93.8865 for her to seal the victory.
European Aquatic Championship silver went to Anna Voloshyna of Ukraine (90.7289) and the bronze medal was collected by Italy’s Linda Cerruti (87.1493).
Federici returns to the pool this afternoon to join the rest of the British team for the Team Free Combination final.
“Next up we’ve got the Team Free Combo final and we’ve got our new James Bond themed routine so we’re excited to show that to the home crowd,” added Federici.
Looking to the future, Federici is eager to continue competing in the Solo events and relished the opportunity to develop further as a Synchro athlete.
“I would definitely love to compete in the Solo again if selected, it’s really different from the Team and Duet events and so it’s great to be able to develop myself in a different way.”
