The Aquatics GB Diving Winter Cup presents a chance to see Britain's best divers in action at the start of 2025 - with the three-day competition to be hosted in Sheffield across 31st January-2nd February.
Ponds Forge International Sports Centre will host the opening fixture of the 2025 Aquatics GB events calendar, as Olympic medallists and Britain's rising stars compete for national titles from the diving boards and platforms.
A historic 2024 for Britain’s divers featured record medal hauls achieved at both the Olympic Games and world championships, a medal-table-topping European Championships team and success on the continental and world stage for a number of our junior divers.
Now heading towards three days of action scheduled in Sheffield, spectators will be able to watch Britain’s best compete on home soil in the 1m springboard, 3m springboard and platform individual medal events - with performances at the Aquatics GB Diving Winter Cup playing a part in selection consideration for the British teams heading to May’s European Championships and the upcoming World Aquatics World Cup series.
Athlete entries for the event open at 4pm on Thursday 12th December and can be viewed on the event page, with spectator tickets available to purchase online here.
Speaking on the announcement, Aquatics GB’s Associate Performance Director Tim Jones gave an insight into how the competition can be a key opportunity to develop momentum for the season ahead.
“Ponds Forge is a popular venue within the Aquatics community and we’re highly looking forward to returning next month as we get the 2025 competition calendar underway.
“We’ve seen British diving teams achieve outstanding results on the global stage across the past 12-months, and the Aquatics GB Winter Cup is once again an important springboard for our athletes to build towards peaking for the major meets of the coming year.
“There is at this point in time a variance in readiness among our senior athletes - with many having taken an extended break following the Paris Olympic Games, and so we anticipate this will present an opportunity for our next generation cohort to challenge for places as we consider our European Championships selections.
“With this in mind we have chosen to refine the 2025 competition programme to focus solely on individual disciplines – this strategic move is to reduce the physical load of multiple competition elements early in the season, and allow the divers to focus their efforts in the arena on what they have worked on so far within their respective training environments.”
