British divers Grace Reid and Katherine Torrance both booked a place in the Women’s 1m final at the LEN European Aquatics Championships in London.
With strong support from the home crowd Reid and Torrance ranked in the top 12 of the 25 divers at the end of the five rounds of competition to progress.
Torrance who trains in Leeds recorded a score of 250.95 and ranked sixth overall following the preliminaries.
Torrance said, “It was an alright prelim for me, steady and fairly easy going, pleased to make the final.
“The last time I was here I was spectating but to be here and competing is great, it’s such a great environment to be in.”
Edinburgh-based Reid concluded the 1m prelims with a points total of 249.95 and placed eighth going into the final later today.
She said: “It felt good, it felt steady. There was no major faults, where I wanted to be after that prelim.”
Reid has a busy finals session ahead of her tonight as she will also dive in the first ever European Championship Mixed 3m Synchro final with Tom Daley.
“I’m off to rest and recover now, the 1m final is first and then we’ll deal with the Mixed 3m event,” she added “Training with Tom has been good fun and I looking forward to seeing how it goes.”
Both divers looked calm and composed as they went up against 17-time European medallist and reigning women’s 1m World Champion Tania Cagnotto of Italy.
A confident Torrance also said, “I’m feeling confident and about getting back on the board later.”
