Three Rio 2016 Olympians will spearhead the British Diving team bound for Ukraine for the European Diving Championships from 12-18 June.
History maker Grace Reid will lead a 12 strong team into competition in the capital city of Kiev later this month.
Edinburgh-based Reid, who was the first female springboard diver to make an Olympic final for more than 25 years in Rio last year, will compete in both the Women’s 3m and 3m Synchro with new partner for 2017 Katherine Torrance.
Freddie Woodward and Lois Toulson will also bring a wealth of competition experience to the team after their debut Olympic outings last year.
Team Leader and British Diving Performance Manager, Kim White said, “The European Championships gives our divers a great opportunity to gain valuable high-level competition experience and exposure.“The team has a mix of both more seasoned divers as well as some debutants to international competition. Phoebe Banks and Ruby Bower get a first call-up to an international team whilst taking GCSE exams in Kiev."
“The British Diving Championships in Edinburgh provided a great warm-up for the divers and we hope to feature on the continental podium several times throughout the meet.
“The Europeans will also see two younger coaches selected to be part of a senior international team. It will give Tom Owens [City of Sheffield] and Nick Robinson-Baker [Edinburgh Diving] a great opportunity to continue to sharpen their coaching skills and develop their processes in a competition environment.”
