Diver Anthony Harding has claimed Men’s 3m Springboard silver for Team GB at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
Harding put in a solid prelims performance in the morning, he ranked second with a score of 534.95 behind China’s Lian Junjie to comfortably secure his place in the starting line-up of the Youth Olympic final.
The Leeds-based diver then returned to the boards and put in an even stronger performance, he increased his score to 559.50 and secured the silver medal.
After claiming his medal Harding said, “I’m over the moon with silver, it couldn’t have gone any better for me.
“My coach and I discussed what I was going to do before the competition. My first dive was a new one and we thought we’d try it out and see how it went and it’s paid off.
“For the last dive I can do the four and a half but I chose not to do it here as training has been limited so we stuck with the easier one and it still went well.
“I knew the Colombian would come back because he’s got some big dives.”
The gold medal went to Colombia’s Garcia Daniel Restrepo, his score 576.05, and the Russia’s Ruslan Ternovoi collected bronze with 551.20 points.
