British Swimming is delighted to announce that it has become the latest member of BASIS – the British Association for Sustainable Sport - as the organisation seeks to improve its sustainable practices.
The association provides expert help to sports clubs, venues, and governing bodies on a number of matters relating to environmental performance; including target setting, process implementation, and the understanding of environmental impact.
BASIS is a not-for-profit organisation, and is committed to delivering a positive impact for sport at every level, and harnessing the power of sport to make a difference for all.
British Swimming joins a number of national governing bodies and sports associations who are already signed up to the scheme, including the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Premiership Rugby, and the Football Association.
Speaking on the announcement, British Swimming’s Diversity, Inclusion and Social Responsibility Manager Josh Rudd gave some more insight on the initiative, and how the involvement will benefit the organisation.
“I’m delighted British Swimming has become a member of BASIS (the British Association for Sustainable Sport), who have been helping governing bodies for over a decade to understand their impact, set targets and implement processes to improve sustainable practice. They also recognise the power of elite sport to guide society towards social and environmental sustainability.
"Partnering with BASIS affirms British Swimming’s commitment as an organisation to sustainable sport and the responsibility we have to improve our environmental performance. We look forward to working closely with them in the future.”
