The Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships are heading to Ponds Forge in July 2025 - as this key end-of-season meet gets a new name to celebrate its importance in bringing through the talent of tomorrow.
The 2025 edition of the Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships - formerly the British Summer Championships - will take place at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield from 19th-25th July, bringing with it seven jam-packed days of great racing - including the ever-entertaining relay programme.
While the format of the event will remain the same, the new name is reflective of the way the Next Gen Champs provide a platform for competitors to race the best swimmers in their age groups and gain valuable arena experience as they continue on their swimming journeys.
The qualifying window for the 2025 event will run from 7th March-11th May inclusive, with further information and updates to be communicated early in the New Year. Event conditions and schedules are available now on the dedicated 2025 Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships page.
Speaking about the importance of the competition, Aquatics GB Head of Performance Development Alan Lynn said: "The Next Gen Championships are a crucial part of our Performance Pathway, aimed at supporting junior talent and helping them thrive as they build towards senior medal-winning performances. Our aim is to provide the very best swimmers across each age group – from the youngest boys and girls to some of our top international athletes with serious global experience – the opportunity to compete for national titles and show the results of their incredible efforts in training throughout the season.
"Ponds Forge has become the home of our summer event over recent years - with the athletes and fans always making for a noisy atmosphere, which really aids the arena experience that every swimmer in the pool gets from the occasion. As ever, we are excited to be back there when July rolls around.”
