The 2013 edition of the Duel in the Pool event has been shortlisted in the UK Event Awards after showcasing swimming at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow.
The two-day swim meet saw Europe’s elite take on some of America’s best swimmers for the overall honour. The competition was a draw but the USA took it on the final tie-breaker relay.
It was one of the first times that the newly refurbished Tollcross International Swimming Centre had been used to host a competition since it reopened and showcased the fantastic facilities excellently ahead of the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
The event was broadcast on Sky and with the nail biting finish it was the perfect way to introduce audiences to the sport of swimming.
Duel in the Pool recently won three awards at the Scottish Event Awards including best international event.
