24 Jan 2016

A squad of 34 British athletes completed their first overseas event of the Olympic year with a number of clean-sweep podium results on the final day of the Flanders Speedo Cup in Antwerp.

Holly Hibbott (Stockport Metro), fresh from gold in the 800m Freestyle yesterday, lead home a British one, two and three in the 400m Freestyle with Ellie Faulkner (City of Sheffield) and Aimee Willmott (London Aquatics) with silver and gold.

The British women’s dominance continued in the 100m Backstroke event when Georgina Davies (National Centre, Loughborough) was first home from Lauren Quigley (Stockport Metro) and Anna Maine (Woking).

Fran Halsall won her second title of the weekend with gold in the Women’s 50m Freestyle while Loughborough team mate Rachael Kelly also won gold with an impressive swim in the 100m Butterfly. Adam Barrett (National Centre, Loughborough) won a silver in the 50m Butterfly event.
