Shropshire’s Rachael Kelly insists learnings from last year’s Commonwealth Games will spur her on at next week’s World Championships.
Heading to Glasgow last summer for the Commonwealth Games, Kelly helped England to 4x100m medley silver but it is individual success the 21-year-old craves.
And it was this desire that saw her defend her British 100m butterfly crown at April’s domestic Championships and gain selection for Kazan.
“Training has been going really well and I am in a good place and felling pretty confident heading out to Kazan,” she said.
“I am not setting myself any targets but I know that if I swim my best then I can be in the mix. Hopefully we can have some success again in the relays just like the Commonwealth Games.
”I feel spurred on this season as working with my teammates has made me more determined to be the best I can be this year.”
