Stephen Milne booked his spot in the 1500m Freestyle final on the penultimate day of the Kazan 2015 World Championships.
The 21-year old finished fourth in his heat to progress fourth fastest overall to tomorrow night’s final.
Milne has already competed in the 800m Freestyle in Russia, finishing seventh.
“I’m really happy with the results of those heats,” said Milne, who finished fourth in last year’s European Championships. “I wanted to make the final and I have so I’m really happy with the performance.
“It’s about making the final. I’ve got my ticket now. I just have to prepare for it and do the best I can.
“Considering everything, I was happy with the 800m. It was good experience but this is my main event and the one I train for.”
Sprinters Liam Tancock and Francesca Halsall also booked semi-final spots with successful heat swims.
Tancock won the world 50m Backstroke title in both 2009 and 2011, and the 30-year old made smooth progress into the semi-finals as he touched third in his heat and sixth overall.
Halsall was eighth fastest through in the 50m Freestyle as she touched second in her heat.
Lauren Quigley was the only other Brit in action in the heats on the penultimate day, touching third in her 50m Freestyle heat to place 28th overall, missing out on the top 16 by just 0.35 seconds.
