Our European short course team have returned home from Copenhagen with numerous personal bests, a handful of records and a total of six medals.
Olympic and long course World Champion Adam Peaty claimed two medals whilst in the Danish capital. Gold came in the Men’s 100m breaststroke where he set a new European record of 55.94.
Earlier in the meet he claimed bronze in 50m breaststroke with a new personal best of 25.70.
Ben Proud also made two trips to the Copenhagen podium after he claimed silver in the Men's 50m freestyle and bronze in the 50m butterfly.
Duncan Scott also claimed his first individual senior international medals as he took bronze in both the 100m and 200m freestyle events.
Kathryn Greenslade delivered a strong senior international debut after making the finals in the 200m and 400m freestyle and also the 200m backstroke.
Head Coach for the event Tim Jones said: “We achieved what we set out to do.
“Everybody went with their own objectives – for some, it was to win medals, some it was to make finals and some people it was to develop their arena skills.
“The swimmers coped really well with the arena. The entertainment and showbiz element added an extra pressure and our athletes rose to the occasion.
“We had a really small team and it was hard to build momentum with so few people, but every swimmer was getting PB times.
“It was really impressive that we had a team of eight who came away swimming great times – especially when it was the first senior international meet for some of them.”
