16 Jul 2017

Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson finished the 10m Synchro final in seventh place on the third day of action at the FINA World Championships.

Couch and Toulson improved their performance from the preliminaries and scored a total of 300.48 points.

Their final dive was their best scoring as they secured 72.96 points for their Back 2 ½ Somersaults 1 ½ Twists piked.

After the competition Couch said: “This is my seventh World Championships and I’ve done synchro with Stacey Powell, Sarah Barrow and now little Lois. she’s been absolutely amazing and I love her to bits, I love diving with her.”

“I felt we dived pretty well, I think the scoring was hard for everyone which makes it fair. I felt like we’ve come away from the final a lot happier than we did this morning.”

"We've definitely improved on this morning but we are happy with the performance overall,” Toulson said.

“I’ve learnt a lot from both competing with Matty last night and winning silver and then obviously with Tonia this evening and looking forward to moving on to the individual 10m later this week.”

James Heatly finished in ninth place in the 1m Springboard with a score of 374.50 while Ross Haslam finished in tenth with a total of 357.90.

Elsewhere at the World Championships Danielle Huskisson finished in 11th place in the women's 10km and Alice Dearing finished 25th.
