After an excellent preliminary round of the Men’s 10m Platform event Tom Daley missed out on place in the Olympic final.
A competitive field lined-up for the semi-final at the Maria Lenk on the penultimate day of the 2016 Olympic Games.
He raised his points total on fourth and fifth round dives, a Reverse 3½ Somersaults Tucked and a Back 3½ Somersaults Piked where he scored 81.40 and 91.80.
Daley said afterwards: “I truly am heartbroken, I had the potential to go out there and win that tonight.
“It clearly wasn’t meant to be today but I’m ready for another four years of hard work.
“It felt good in myself today but clearly my mind clearly didn’t match up. I gave it my all and it just didn’t happen today.
Daley closed the semi-final with a total score of 403.25 after the six rounds of diving.
