Redfern World Record in Sheffield

Worcester swimmer Rebecca Redfern (SB13) breaks the world record in the Women’s MC 100m Breaststroke on day three in Sheffield.

Redfern lowered the world record from 1:16.23 to 1:15.96 and a total of 1047 points. Silver went to Bethany Firth (SB14) of Newcastle as she recorded 1021 points and bronze was collected by Nova Centurion’s Charlotte Henshaw (SB6) with 909 points.

The S12 para-swimmer Hannah Russell (City of Manchester Aquatics) took gold in the Women’s MC 100m Freestyle final to open the day three finals session of the British Summer Championships.

Russell sealed the win and the gold medal with a point’s total of 973. Silver went to fellow ParalympicsGB athlete Stephanie Millward (S8) of Corsham with 937 points and Eleanor Robinson (S6) of Northampton recorded 848 points and took bronze.

Loughborough University swimmer Charlotte Atkinson is first to the touch in the Women’s 19+ years 200m Butterfly final. She led from the start and finished ahead of City of Manchester Aquatics’ Emma Smithurst and Stephanie Blakeburn of Billingham.

Holly Hibbott (Stockport Metro) eased to victory in the Women’s 17/18 years 200m Butterfly final. Ellesmere College Titans swimmer Tazmin Pugh stormed to victory in the 16 years final.

Emily Large (City of Newcastle) stopped the clock first in the Women’s 15 years 200m Butterfly to secure gold. In the 13/14 years age group final the national honour went to City of Leeds swimmer Tia Ward.

Adam Barrett (Loughborough University) dominated the race and eased to victory in the Men’s 19+ years 100m final. Barrett finished ahead of Martyn Walton (University of Stirling) and Kieran McGuckin (Edinburgh University.

A home pool win for Elliot Clogg of City of Sheffield, a powerful two lap swim sealed the win in the 17/18 years age group final. In the 16 years final Luke Turley of Hatfield collects another national title.

Sam Dailey (Plymouth Leander) is the man on top of the rankings at the close of the Men’s 15 years age group final of the 100m Freestyle. Millfield School swimmer Huw Williams takes the gold in the 13/14 years final.

Fresh from his World record on day two, Jonathan Fox (S7) of City of Manchester Aquatics took another gold medal, this time Men’s MC 100m Freestyle.

A points total of 858 placed him in the centre of the podium, he was flanked by S9 swimmer Lewis White (City of Derby) with 841 points and City of Sunderland’s Matthew Wylie (S9) with 800 points.

Aaron Moores (SB14) of Swansea Aquatics was in fine form as he cruised to a comfortable win in the Men’s MC 100m Breaststroke with 1008 points.

Moores closed the race ahead of silver medallist Scott Quin (SB14) of Warrender Bath Club who recorded a total of 931 points and Craig Harris (SB14) of Swindon in bronze with 776 points.

City of Manchester’s Rebecca Guy was first to the wall in the splash and dash final of the Women’s 19+ years 50m Freestyle final. Silver went to Bath University’s Anna Hopkin and bronze was collected Isabella Hindley of Chelsea and Westminster.

Gulsum Onal (West Lothian) delivered a dominating swim in the 17/18 years of the Women’s 50m Freestyle and collected gold. It was Anna Maine of Woking that was the gold medallist in the 16 years age group final.

Ellesmere College Titans swimmer Freya Anderson delivered in the Women’s 15 years final of the 50m Freestyle as she bagged gold in Sheffield. Amie Philpot (Team Ipswich) was the victor in the 13/14 years splash and dash final 

An electrifying 400m IM in the 19+ year’s final saw Loughborough University swimmer Fraser Minnican land the gold medal.  Joined on the national podium by Thomas Paine of City Manchester Aquatics and John Britton of Ealing, silver and bronze respectively for them.

South Yorkshire’s Joe Litchfield (Doncaster Dartes) eased himself to a gold medal in the 17/18 years Men’s 400m IM. Nathan Hughes (Hatfield) stopped the clock first in the 16 years final and secured himself a gold medal in Sheffield.

Warrender Baths Swimmer Archie Goodburn was back on the British Summer Championship podium, this time to collect gold in the Men’s 15 years 400m IM. In the younger 13/14 years final it was Charlie Hutchinson of Ellesmere College.

Day three of the British Summer Championships in Sheffield was rounded off with thrilling relay finals. Ellesmere College Titans kicked things off as their relay quartet powered to victory in the Women’s 800m Free Team final.

Stockport closed the session with an enthralling swim as they won team gold in the 17+ years Women’s 800m Free Team final.
