The BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year shortlist has revealed ten nominees who have smashed it in 2019.
This years BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year winner will be announced on Sunday, 24 November at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards and will go on to attend BBC Sports Personality of the Year in Aberdeen on 15 December.
Para-Swimmers Toni Shaw (16) and Maisie Summers-Newton (18) are among the ten young athletes featured on this years shortlist after a fantastic year which was highlighted by their performances at the World Para Swimming Championships in London.
Shaw who was born and raised in Aberdeen, won two golds, two silvers and two bronze medals at her maiden World Championships in London and is the proud holder of fourteen Scottish records across the S9 and S10 categories. Last year, she was the youngest member of Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Summers-Newton took home a decent haul of her own this year, including three medals from the Para-swimming World Championships - gold in the 200m individual medley (bettering her own world record time), silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m freestyle. Her performances across the Para Swimming World Series also earned her best junior female athlete award.
