The British Gas GBR Women’s Water Polo team are making final preparations before their first match of the LEN European Water Polo Championships tomorrow.
"We're feeling very strong and ready for our first game against Greece tomorrow"
The team face Greece in the opening match of the women’s tournament in Budapest, Hungary.
One of the newest members of the GBR team, Pippa Temple, is looking forward to the match. The 20-year old said: “I'm very excited about competing in my first International tournament and representing GBR.
“Our preparation has been very successful - we had a great training camp with Spain in Madrid last week and we're feeling very strong and ready for our first game against Greece tomorrow.”
Coach Kostas Vamvakaris added: “Our first game against Greece, the 2011 World Championship Gold medallists, will be very tough, but our training camp went very well and gave us the opportunity to get match ready.
“The European Championships is an important chance for us to prove our performance potential.
"The team is mentally ready, we are injury free and we are looking forward to giving each match our best performance.”
The British team arrived in Budapest earlier this week and will hold their final training session tonight before their first group match tomorrow afternoon.
The team then play the Netherlands on Friday followed by their final group match against hosts Hungary on Sunday.
